The End of Natural Beauty

Celebrities have the money to completely change themselves according to the beauty standards at the time, while the confidence of the younger generation deteriorates.

Cosmetic plastic surgery is an addiction, especially if you have the money for it. Of course, money is not an issue for celebrities who are millionaires or even billionaires. A new day means a new insecurity because regular people, especially teenagers, suffer from holding themselves to completely unrealistic beauty standards. These unrealistic beauty standards are set in place by celebrities that change their face and body to fit the beauty standard at that time.

It is common for teenagers, as well as adults, to follow celebrities on various social media platforms, for example Tiktok or Instagram. However, when people see celebrities who look perfect in every way, they begin to compare themselves to that celebrity. Everything that they want, this celebrity has. But little do they know, it’s all fake. Celebrities as well as average people on various platforms use filters and heavy makeup to deceive their followers into believing they have no imperfections. Grown adults should be able to realize what they are doing. They aren’t just sharing photos, they are corrupting young minds.

Celebrities that have gotten plastic surgery include Bella Hadid, the Kardashian family, Dolly Parton, Katy Perry, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, and many more. In Hadid’s 2022 cover story with Vogue, she stated she regretted a nose job she got at 14. Not only did Hadid speak on her plastic surgery, but Parton said in a 2019 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, “I’m not a natural beauty, but I can enhance it. Whatever it takes, I do.” This promotes the idea that if you don’t consider yourself beautiful, it’s okay because you can just completely change your face. But the reality is that you end up looking like an alien, rather than beautiful.

There are many negatives to plastic surgery, especially if it’s done purely for aesthetics. Plastic surgery can cause major health risks, it’s very expensive, and there’s always a chance it won’t turn out how you imagined. Complications include heavy bleeding or mild bleeding, pneumonia, blood clots, permanent blindness, and rarely, death.

Although no one can or should be stopped from getting cosmetic plastic surgery, considering the decision beforehand is vital. You might think you hate something about yourself, but by getting rid of that you’re getting rid of your ethnic features that make you, you. Remember, cosmetic plastic surgery promotes insecurity. Embrace your imperfections because your imperfections make you a real person. You’re not supposed to look “perfect,” no one is.
