Many of us are familiar with the household name Harry Styles. From his first introduction into the music industry with his band One Direction, he won over the hearts of millions of people around the world. Even after the band broke up, Styles continued making music on his own. However, after “Love on Tour” in 2023, he went off the map, leaving fans without new music for almost four years. Fans have been waiting patiently for new music, and, on top of that, Styles accumulated quite a few new supporters during his time away. So, when he released his new album this year, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., both old and new fans went wild.
When the concert dates dropped, fans across America had a not-so-fun surprise waiting. Instead of the typical concert format, where an artist travels to a new city every week, Harry Styles decided to stay at Madison Square Garden in New York for 30 days. The craze already forming among fans increased tenfold. The presale, with 11.5 million people vying for roughly 550,000 tickets, sold out within 30 minutes. Ticketmaster was more than 20 times oversubscribed, leaving millions of people fighting for the remaining few tickets available during the general sale. On top of all that, ticket prices were astronomical. Prices ranged from $200 to more than $400, with some lower-level seats exceeding $1,000. This is more than double the cost of his previous tour, where face-value tickets ranged from $50 to $200. However, after the long three-year wait, fans were willing to pay whatever it took for a spot in the stadium.
After all the work fans went through to acquire their tickets, the question still remains unanswered. Is it worth it? Even though the chance to get tour tickets in New York is long gone, other locations still have tickets available for purchase. This raises the question of whether people, particularly students who make up a large percentage of audience members, should buy tickets for a show that requires so much time and money to obtain. Ultimately, that decision is up to you. If you are a die-hard Harry Styles fan, got tickets from a friend, or simply have the time and money to spend, this may be the concert for you. There is no doubt it will be the experience of a lifetime. So the question is, will you be there too?
