School’s Out: Syosset Summer Plans

By: Kingsley Ngitngit

No more tests. No more homework. No more school. That can only mean one thing: it’s summertime. The 2025-26 school year at Syosset is coming to a close. Whether it is preparing for vacations, studying for the SAT, planning for college, or simply taking a well-earned break, students across Syosset have a variety of plans for the summer.

Like many other students whose first steps into higher education are approaching, junior Aiden Oh will spend part of his summer visiting colleges. In particular, he is excited to tour Purdue University. He said, “I hope to find the right place for me while helping myself get through college applications. I will most likely have to spend a few hours researching which colleges have the majors, community, and acceptance rates that align most with me.” Even with the demands of preparing for college, Aiden admitted his summer will “most likely” be spent playing the video game Valorant during his free time.

Another junior, Terrence Moy, also shared his plans for the summer. Moy will have the opportunity to intern with Al Cerullo, an aviator and Vietnam War veteran who has worked as an aerial cinematographer and stunt helicopter pilot for films such as John Wick and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. “Through this experience, I will gain firsthand insight into aviation, including how aircraft are maintained, operated, and used in real-world situations,” said Terrence. He added that the internship will “allow me to learn about different career paths in the field, the skills required for success, and the opportunities available in both civilian and military aviation.”

This summer, whether students are studying, interning, or relaxing, the students of Syosset will create lasting memories and gain new experiences before returning to school in September.
