After last year’s 65-56 loss in the New York State Semifinals, the Syosset Varsity Girls Basketball team is looking to bounce back this season. Through the leadership, dedication, and experience of five senior players, the team hopes to make another playoff run, showcasing their remarkable resilience and growth. Much of their success can be credited to the coaching staff. The team is led by returning Head Coach Ferreira and new Assistant Coach Diane Malley. The players have responded positively, showing increased confidence and a renewed commitment to teamwork.

A major highlight of this season has been the team’s ability to rise to challenges in tough games. Senior Lindsey Keschner described this mindset as “staying composed and fighting until the final buzzer.” This season’s team also stands out because of its chemistry and collective mindset. Lindsey said “every player understands their role and is willing to do the little things, whether it be defense, communication, or effort, in order to help each other out.”

Senior Samantha Schneider, one of the team’s leaders, summarized the goals for the remainder of the season: “Keep getting better every day and keep pushing each other to make practices harder so that the girls keep executing at their best on game day.” It is this attitude, along with the steady guidance of the coaching staff, that continues to drive Syosset to be a consistent leader in the division. If the Syosset Lady Ballers continue to focus on resiliency, competitiveness, and team-first play, the sky is the limit.
